The company was created in 1987, under the name of AIROPAK, a division of Air Products and Chemicals to exploit the “in-line fluorination” patented process.
Sold in 1991, the company was integrated into Boxmore International Plc, a Northern Ireland company renowned for providing high quality plastic packaging. Rapidly, the name of the company changed with the achievement of the ISO 9000 certification.
In 2000, Boxmore International accepted the friendly takeover offer made by Chesapeake Corporation, a specialty US packaging provider, to become CHESAPEAKE Specialty Chemical Packaging division.
In January 2014, CEREA PARTENAIRE, the private equity firm specializing in agribusiness, accompanied by Bpifrance, acquired Chesapeake plastic packaging division.
In February 2017, SAGARD Private Equity Partners took over the company to increase its international expansion through a combination of organic growth and acquisitions.
IPACKCHEM Group employs 400 people,generating about €70 M in annual revenue from its 5 factories: Saint-Etienne (France), Crewe (United Kingdom), Peremarton (Hungary), Paulinia (Brazil) and Randburg (South Africa).
