The company was created in 1987, under the name of AIROPAK, a division of Air Products to exploit the “in-mould fluorination” technology.
1991
Sold in 1991, the company was integrated into Boxmore International Plc, a Northern Irish company renowned for providing high quality plastic packaging and pioneer in ISO 9000 certification in Europe.
2000

In 2000, Boxmore International accepted the friendly takeover offer made by Chesapeake Corporation, a specialty US packaging manufacturer.
2014
In January 2014, alongside Bpifrance, CEREA PARTENAIRE, a private equity firm specialising in agribusiness, acquired Chesapeake Specialty Chemical Packaging division.
In February 2017, SAGARD, a new equity partner for IPACKCHEM, took over to support international expansion through a combination of organic growth, acquisitions and greenfield operations
2020

In April 2020, IPACKCHEM acquired JRB Packaging Co. Ltd in China with 2 factories located in Kunshan (nearby Shanghai) and Tianjin (nearby Beijin).
Today
IPACKCHEM Group employs 850 people, generating an annual turnover of €125 million from its 8 factories: Saint-Etienne (France), Crewe (United Kingdom), Peremarton (Hungary), Paulinia (Brazil), Randburg (South Africa), Kirovo-Chepetsk (Russia), Kunshan and Tianjin (China).
